Landess is a longtime Haley supporter that backed her early on in her successful 2010 gubernatorial bid. Not anymore. In fact, not since 2011. Landess immediately turned on Haley and by 2011 was throwing her under the bus (see here).
Now Landess has taken her personal dislike of Republicans to an entirely different level. Landess is (through the use of her political arm, The Nerve) attacking the use of certain protective law enforcement services for Haley. The state's top office is given mandatory protection and for Landess to suggest that taxpayers shouldn't be funding the protection of the Governor is irresponsible. In fact, it's downright dangerous.
Landess, a Libertarian, has even resorted to partnering with far left pundit John Crangle in seeking to make it more difficult and cumbersome for Haley's protective detail to operate smoothly. It was just this month that a crazed Anderson County man was sentenced to 6 years in prison for purchasing a gun and then sending a letter to US Senator Lindsey Graham's office threatening to kill him.
It is the duty of the state to protect Haley and her family - even while campaigning. It was President Kennedy who was shot and killed during a parade of all things. The money driven Landess -- who likes to put dollar figures on just about everything -- is neglecting to calculate the cost of a life. Haley and her family deserve the best state funded law enforcement protection available at all times. Any deviation from that is a danger to the Haley family and to the state of South Carolina.
